Welcome Firefox and Internet Explorer users ((( and now Opera users )))

For well over a year I have been developing an extension for Internet Explorer that greatly enhances the usability of Prosper's website.  My extension adds much needed features to improve your analysis of listings.

What you will see on the Prosper Detail page after installing.

What you will see on the Similar Loans page.

Basically you install the extension based on your browser (see below).. then you use the Prosper website as you do now... only it will be ehanced with additional information to help your bidding process.

I of course do not charge for the use of my extension but donations of $5 even $1 are greatly appreciated.  It costs me $8 a month to provide this service.

To contact me, send a message through Prosper.

Browsers supported are:

  • Firefox v1.5 and v2.0, and v3.0
  • Internet Explorer v6, v7 and v8beta
  • in theory Firefox on the Mac (Intel based) should work but I do not have a Mac to test, let me know if you are interested helping test
  • Opera 9.51 works as well

Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera users can go to this web page to determine if Silverlight is already installed.  If not you will be prompted to install Silverlight.

Firefox

For Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 users you must have Greasemonkey installed.  Then install this script to enable the extension.

For Firefox 3.0 use this installer for Greasemonkey.  Then install this script to enable the extension.

Internet Explorer

For Internet Explorer users you must run this installer.  Note if you had installed the prior version of my Prosper Internet Explorer Extension, please uninstall that or you will see duplicate information.  Not all functionality is in the new Silver extension but I will no longer be updating the old extension.

Opera

For Opera users, you have a few manual steps to perform.

  1. Create a folder on your computer, such as a folder under your Desktop or Documents
  2. From Opera, choose Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced, then click Content.
  3. Be sure that Enable JavaScript is turned on
  4. Click JavaScript Options
  5. In the User JavaSript files field click Choose and navigate to the folder you created in step 1
  6. Click Ok, Ok
  7. Right click on this script and choose Save Linked Content As and navigate to the folder you created in step 1

One of the key advantages to the new Silver extension is I no longer have to propagate updates.  Changes are immediately available in your browser as you navigate Prosper's website.  Another advantage is this implementation is noticeably faster than my previous extension.

Current features available:

  • Market Analysis based on Broad, Narrow and Specific criteria.  Quickly and easily view past performance of loans based on information of the listing you are viewing.
  • Similar Loans:  View the loans that are defaulted or delinquent that are similar to the listing being viewed.
  • Bid Details:  See the average, median, and maximum bid information.  Plus a confidence metric that measures the other lender's ability to pick good listings.
  • Additional quick popups for borrower description, previous listings, and more to come.
  • Prev/Next navigation on the Prosper Listing Detail page based on the Search Results page... also from the Watch List.
  • Quick verification of endorser's bids.
  • Look for magic wands for these and other enabled features.

Toot toot... I have to sound my own horn here.

My extension provided a watch list long before Prosper offered one.  Yes I do not have a watch list in the Silver version but it is not needed since Prosper's exists.

My extension provided the estimated defaulting rate based on info from the credit report long before Prosper added the estimated return/loss concept.  Originally Prosper did not compare the credit info in a narrow enough bucket... now they are mimicking my Specific criteria.... which I found to be too specific so I added the Narrow criteria.

So Toot toot again.  I hope to continue to be copied by Prosper.  I'd prefer that they offered all of the functionality I provide.
